In this article, we’re going to explain one of the many error codes that can affect your Midmark M9/Midmark M11 autoclave. This article will focus specifically on error code C645. We’ll tell you about the problem, what displays when the error occurs, its possible causes, and the course of action to take to resolve said error.

Display/Symptom
C645:VENT MODE PRESSURE HIGH
ITEMS NOT STERILE
UNPLUG / REPLUG UNIT
Absolute pressure inside chamber is greater than 0.7 psig (5 kPag) for longer than 10 minutes. (i.e. Vent mode is not complete)
Causes, Checks and Actions
Possible Cause 1: Maintenance not performed.
- Check: Verify weekly & monthly maintenance has been performed by customer. Refer to User Guide.
- Action: Perform monthly maintenance.
Possible Cause 2: Chamber filter clogged.
- Check: Check if chamber filter is clogged.
- Action: Clean / Replace filter. (Clean with Speed-Clean and brush)

Possible Cause 3: Vent valve.
- Check 1: Inspect vent valve. (Clean valve, stretch spring)
- Check 2: With the sterilizer in the Vent Mode… Perform: Vent Valve Testing (The valve is normally open, and should not be energized during the Vent mode).
- Action: Clean / Replace vent valve.

Possible Cause 4: Pressure tubing at incorrect angle.
- Check: Check tubing for restrictions and ensure tubing is angled down and away from the PC Board.
- Action: Adjust pressure tubing to correct angle.

Possible Cause 5: PC Board malfunctioning.
- Check 1: Perform: Heating Element Supply Voltage Test (With harness attached to leads should have line voltage in test mode)
- Check 2: Perform: Main PC Board Relay Test (Check TP1 & TP2 for an acceptable range: 10 to 14 VDC)
- Check 3: Perform: Main PC Board Pressure Transducer Voltage Test (Acceptable range: 4.0 to 6.0 VDC)
- Action: Replace Main PC board.

Possible Cause 6: Blockage or malfunction in VistaCool system if used.
- Check A: Check for debris or blockage in the tubing / fittings to the VistaCool System.
- Action A: Clean / Replace as required.
- Check B: Check operation of In-Iine Thermal Sensor.
- Action B: Replace Thermal Regulator Wax Motor or Thermal Sensor.
- Check C: Check for weep hole in the manifold lid and threaded area on the tank of the VistaCool System.
- Action C: Drill hole in VistaCool manifold and threaded area on the tank.
Possible Cause 7: The 90 degree elbow fitting(s) are not installed.
- Check: Check if the 90 degree elbow fitting(s) are installed on the tank.
- Action: Install the 90 degree elbow fitting(s).

Possible Cause 8: Tank is lower than the facility drain.
- Check: Check if tank is higher than the facility drain.
- Action: Install the tank higher than the facility drain.
