Halyard’s Aquasoft Nitrile Gloves
Can you find cheaper gloves out there? Sure… but we can assure you, it won’t be these. Latex and vinyl gloves are still widely used for general purpose equipment because, honestly, quality isn’t always a factor. Their level of protection can’t go against some of the heavier requirements needed beyond just general use and therefor can’t be used in nearly as many of the same extensive medical scenarios as nitrile. With Halyard’s Aquasoft Nitrile gloves, cost and quality go hand-in-hand.
Versatility
Choosing Nitrile gives you and your staff the versatility and confidence to handle the expected and unexpected each day. There are several ways Halyard has accomplished that with this product.
- Halyard’s Aquasoft Nitrile Gloves are waterproof. They’re recommended for low exposure to chemicals and liquids, and you can even wear them under your regular work gloves to prevent permeation.
- Nitrile is 3-4 times more puncture-resistant than latex, Nitrile is the way to go if you need tough protection.
- And they’re chemo drug resistant. These gloves are recommended to use against potent cancer drugs that normal gloves wouldn’t be able to handle on a good day. They’ve been tested against 36 chemotherapy drugs per the ASTM D6978-05. And of course, this means any standard chemicals found in work environments as well.
- Nitrile has also been proven as one of the longest lasting materials for shelf life. Under the right and proper conditions, your nitrile gloves can have a shelf life of possibly 5-10 years. Just keep them in the original packaging and stored in the proper room conditions.
Quality Assurance
Here is where confidence comes back into play. Halyard’s Aquasoft Nitrile Gloves meet and/or exceed most standard requirements for competing gloves. Where most competition will seek to meet the ASTM requirements of 2.5, Halyard blows it out of the water at 1.0. This means they are significantly less likely to have critical defects than other exam gloves. Here are some other important points to note:
- They have an AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) of 1.0 for critical defects. Meets or exceeds ASTM D6319 – Standard Specification for Nitrile Examination Glove for Medical Applications
- Meets or exceeds biocompatible 10993 studies for systemic toxicity, irritation and sensitization endpoints
- Passes Viral Penetration Testing – ASTM F1671 – 07 Standard Test Method for Resistance of Materials Used in Protective Clothing to Penetration by Blood-Borne Pathogens Using Phi-X174 Bacteriophage Penetration as a Test System
Sizes
With the variety of sizes Halyard has provided, you’ll definitely find a size to meet the needs of you whole team. These gloves can be purchased at 9.5-inches in length for maximum coverage. They also range in sizes: extra-small (XS), small (S), medium (M), large (L) and extra-large (XL). And you can even buy them in bulk cases here.
Comfort
Once you put them on, your Halyard Aquasoft Nitrile Gloves will essentially form fit to your hand using your own body heat. With their primary material being acrylonitrile butadiene, these gloves won’t cause any irritation or Type-1 allergic reaction that comes about from rubber or latex proteins. And these are powder-less gloves, so they’re both frictionless and irritation-free for a safe and easy removal. No tearing them apart just to get them off.
And the Aquasoft variant of Halyard’s other nitrile exam gloves are thinner than others. Which means that less force is required to stretch the material. Ultra-thin gloves also mean that the layer of nitrile between your skin and the objects and instruments you touch is thinner, providing you a latex-free glove with the dexterity and tactile sensitivity of natural rubber.
SmartPULL Packaging
Halyard utilizes their SmartPULL packaging to ensure that there’s way less glove waste than other competitors. The SmartPULL packaging comes with two numbered opening tabs on the top. Start by only opening tab 1 to ensure you only get the amount of gloves you need at one time. As they run out and they become harder to dispense, simply pull out tab 2 for ease of access until the box is empty.
Final Thoughts
Halyard’s entire lineup of exam gloves have enough variety to meet any need you have. There are thicker ones for extra protection for tough tasks. Or there are some like the Aquasoft, which offer the same Nitrile-level protection but with the casual thinner wear for greater comfort.
