In this article, we’re going to explain one of the many error codes that can affect your Midmark M9/Midmark M11 autoclave. This article will focus specifically on error code C232. We’ll tell you about the problem, what displays when the error occurs, its possible causes, and the course of action to take to resolve said error.

Display/Symptom

C232: FILL MODE WATER LOW

ITEMS NOT STERILE PUSH SOP TO RESTART

Water level sensor did not detect water within the 5 minute time limit.

Causes, Checks and Actions

 Possible Cause 1: Reservoir water level is low. 
  • Check: Check water level in reservoir.
  • Action: Add water to the reservoir until water reaches appropriate level. Press STOP button, then initiate a new cycle.

 Possible Cause 2: Chamber filter clogged. 
  • Check: Check if chamber filter is clogged.
  • Action: Clean / Replace filter. (Clean with Speed-Clean and brush)

Possible Cause 3: Water Level Sensor malfunctioning / dirty.
  • Check A: Inspect water level sensor.
  • Action A: Clean / Dry water level sensor. (Clean with Speed-Clean and scotch bright pad)

 

  • Check B: Loose / damaged wire connections. (Check wire connections and all grounded locations)
  • Action B: Secure / Repair loose or damaged connections.

 

  • Check C: Perform: Water Level Sensor Test
  • Action C: Replace water level sensor.

Possible Cause 4: Air valve malfunctioning / dirty. 
  • Check: With door open and door switch engaged, initiate fill cycle to verify if filling. If yes- Air valve malfunctioning / dirty. Perform: Air Valve Test If no- Refer to: Fill Valve malfunctioning / dirty.
  • Action: Clean / Replace air valve.

Possible Cause 5: Fill valve malfunctioning / dirty. 
  • Check: Inspect fill valve / related tubing for restrictions.
  • Action: Clean / Replace fill valve.

  • Check: Inspect two wires connecting the fill valve and PC board (W3 / W4 on PC board) for damage and/or loose connections.
  • Action: Secure / Repair loose or damaged connections.

 

  • Check: With the sterilizer in the Fill Mode & door switch engaged… Perform: Fill Valve Continuity Test
  • Action: Clean / Replace fill valve.

 Possible Cause 6: PC Board malfunctioning. 
  • Check: Verify voltage to Fill Valve. Perform: Fill Valve Supply Voltage Test
  • Action: Replace Main PC board.

 Possible Cause 7: Chamber is dirty or corroded. 
  • Check: Inspect the bottom of the chamber.
  • Action: Clean bottom of the chamber with Speed-Clean and distilled water or water that meets the referenced water purity specifications in User Guide.

 Possible Cause 8: Restricted Condensing Coil. 
  • Check: Check for blockage in coil and assure weep hole is present and not obstructed.
  • Action: Clear blockage / replace condensing coil.

 Possible Cause 9: Blockage or malfunction in VistaCool System if used. 
  • Check: Check for debris or blockage in the tubing / fittings to the VistaCool System.
  • Action: Clean / Replace as required.

 

  • Check: Check operation of In-Iine Thermal Sensor.
  • Action: Replace Thermal Regulator Wax Motor or Thermal Sensor.

  • Check: Check for weep hole in the manifold lid and threaded area on the tank of the VistaCool System.
  • Action: Drill hole in VistaCool manifold and threaded area on the tank.

 

  • Check: Check position of tank for proper installation.
  • Action: Install VistaCool as recommended. VistaCool Installation Guide and Owners manual.
