Examples of Tuttnauer TVET 10M Autoclave Maintenance
To tell you more about our program, we’re using the the maintenance schedules of one of Tuttnauer’s best manual veterinary autoclaves, the Tuttnauer TVET 10M.
Tuttnauer TVET 10M Daily Maintenance
-
Clean the Door Gasket with a mild detergent, water and a soft cloth or sponge. The gasket should be clean and smooth.
Tuttnauer TVET 10M Weekly Maintenance
- ONCE PER WEEK, clean the TVET 10M Air Jet. To ensure that the temperature inside the chamber rises properly, it is necessary to keep the Air Jet clean. A dirty Air Jet will prevent indicator strips from changing color and cause spore tests to fail.
- Once per week, clean and descale the chamber, copper tubes and the reservoir using Chamber Brite.
Caution!
Do not use steel wool, steel brush or bleach as this can damage the chamber and trays!
- Take out the Tray Holder and Trays. Clean the Tray Holder and Trays with detergent or a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner and water, using a cloth or sponge. Rinse the Tray Holder and Trays immediately with water to avoid staining the metal.
- Put a few drops of oil on the 2 door pins and door tightening bolt screw shaft and bearing.
- Clean the outer parts of the autoclave with a soft cloth.
Tuttnauer TVET 10M Periodical Maintenance
- Once every month, clean and check the TVET 10M Safety Valve.
- Replace the TVET 10M Door Gasket every 12 months, or as needed.
- Once a year, inspect the Locking Device for excessive wear.

Final Thoughts
A huge part of any practice is ensuring that all equipment is running safely and efficiently. If it’s not working properly you can have a sudden failure or not get equipment properly sterilized. With different manufacturers come different autoclaves, which means different maintenance methods. Maintenance scheduling and instructions can be daunting. Add more than one machine and that task becomes even more complex. But that’s why we’re here to help at no cost anytime you need. The purpose of our Free Scican Preventive Maintenance Program is to remove the stress and worry of what maintenance is due for which machine, and when it’s time for it to be done.
We’ll be there to remind you when things need cleaning or replacing. And you’ve got 24/7 access to our library of videos and articles about anything you may need help with. With all these extras you can focus on your practice and patients instead of the equipment. So you can sit back and relax until you hear from us again!
