Examples of Midmark Autoclave Maintenance

To tell you more about our program, we’re using the the maintenance schedules of 3 of Midmark’s best autoclaves, the M3, M9 and M11. Each one has a periodical maintenance schedule of daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.

Midmark M9 Maintenance

Let’s start with the Midmark M9 maintenance procedures. This is the new Ritter/Midmark M9 Steam Sterilizer with the door open

Daily Maintenance

The Midmark M9’s daily maintenance consists of just making sure to disinfect the exterior of the unit. Once the work day is done, using only quaternary disinfectants, wipe down the outside of the unit. Or cleaning with any other methods listed by your facility’s requirements.

The door gasket also needs to be looked over and wiped down. Look thoroughly for any debris or damage done to the gasket, then wipe it and other mating surfaces with a damp cloth.

Should the door gasket need replacing, we sell M9 door gaskets here.

Weekly Maintenance

The weekly maintenance focuses on cleaning the interior. Starting with draining the reservoir using the drain tube in the front of the unit. Remove the trays and racks and wash the items with warm soapy water or Speed Clean. And refill the reserve with water and the easy parts are done.

Speed Clean is available here.

Monthly Maintenance

Monthly maintenance is probably the lengthiest step out of them all. It involves flushing the system and cleaning the Filter Screens. Drain the chamber and adding an ounce of Speed Clean, running a Pouches cycle, then an Unwrapped Cycle. Followed by draining the water in the reservoir

Remove the filters and clean them with water and Speed Clean, then reinstall the filters and any trays or racks removed.

Midmark M11 Maintenance

Now moving on to the Midmark M11‘s maintenance procedures. Though, since it shares the same build and layout as the M9, these steps will be the same as stated before. The Ritter/Midmark M11 with door open and racks.

Daily Maintenance

The Midmark M11’s daily maintenance consists of just making sure to disinfect the exterior of the unit.

Should the door gasket need replacing, we sell M11 door gaskets here.

Midmark M3 Maintenance

The Midmark M3 differs in build from the Midmark M9 and M11, so the steps and any parts to maintain it will differ as well.

Daily Maintenance

Just like the other 2, the daily maintenance consists of just cleaning the exterior of your Midmark M3. Wipe down the outside of the unit using only quaternary disinfectants, then carefully dry everything off. Remember to check the door gasket for any damage or debris then wipe that down too.

Should the gasket seal need replacing, we sell Midmark M3 Door Seals here.

Weekly Maintenance

The weekly maintenance requires you to drain and refill the autoclave’s reservoir and cleaning the external condensing tank. Just connect the drain hose to the coupling on the front of the M3, then drain it into an external vessel. Afterwards just refill the reservoir with distilled water.

To clean and empty the condensing tank, just drain it and scrub it out with diluted bleach and a brush. Then rinse it out thoroughly and refill it with water back to the line on the inside.

Monthly Maintenance

Thankfully, with the build on the Midmark M3 being so much smaller, this process isn’t nearly as long as the Midmark M9 or M11. The monthly maintenance of the M3 only requires you to clean its tank level sensors and filter with a mild soap solution. Just make sure to wipe them all dry afterwards. Then you’re done, no other steps required!
