In this article, we’re going to tell you how to properly maintain your Midmark M9 or Midmark M11 steam sterilizer after each day. The daily maintenance is quite simple and mainly relies on visual inspection to make sure everything is in working order.
However, if you are more of a visual learner we have a video on this subject here!

The Maintenance
Door and Dam Gaskets
The door gasket just needs to be inspected, not removed this time. The dam gasket, however can just be popped off for easier inspection. Take a look around the door gasket and inside where the door ring sits. Make sure that no small objects could’ve gotten lodged between it during the cycle process. Remove anything you think doesn’t belong there and you can move on to the next step.

Water Level
Inspect that the water level to the left of the open chamber is at the proper fill for the next work day.
Outer Chamber
Make sure to inspect the outer rim of the chamber opening. Clean off any debris or unwanted dirt if you find any.
Door Switch
Moving on to the door switch, make sure that it’s in proper working order. Take a pen or any small item you can use to reach in and push the switch up and down. Make sure it isn’t sticking or binding to something.

Door Handle
Inspect the door handle on the door itself. Push it up and down to make sure it functions properly. It shouldn’t be binding to anything or sticking.
Clean External Surface
Before we move on to the last steps, since you’re still on the outer portion of the unit, you should take time to give it a quick but thorough clean. We recommend using Simple Green, a cleaning disinfectant that has been proven to be harmless to the outer plastic. It’s okay not to use Simple Green itself, but remember to shy away from solutions with high levels of alcohol. High alcohol content can damage the plastic.
The Trays
Take the trays out of the chamber and make sure they are free of dirt or debris. This is a good chance to clean them with a scrub pad and some distilled water as they tend to rust quite easily.

Mesh Filters
Always good to check the mesh vent filters inside the chamber for any debris. You can clean them with a toothbrush and some Speed Clean if you need to.
