Continuing our series of checklists, today we’re moving on to the Tuttnauer T-Edge 11 Autoclave. It’s fast, powerful, and easy to use… A perfect addition to any practice. But while it’s good to talk about what it can do, it’s also important to go over how to maintain it. Because preventative maintenance is important. And we notice that it’s something that goes under the radar in some practices’ day-to-day. So in this article, we’re going to go over its preventative maintenance checklist. What you need and when you need it to keep it functioning at 100%. And doing everything we can to extend the life of your autoclave for as long as possible.

The Preventative Maintenance

Daily Maintenance 

The daily maintenance on your Tuttnauer T-Edge 10 consists of cleaning the unit daily and replacing the water with fresh water. The daily maintenance checklist requires you to:

  • Replace distilled water in reservoir as needed
  • Clean door gasket with a micro fiber cloth/dishwashing soap and inspect for crease or tears
  • Wipe exterior of unit and surrounding area with Optim disinfecting wipes.

Weekly & Bi-Weekly Maintenance 

The weekly maintenance revolves around cleaning the chamber and its contents, rinsing the chamber filter, and draining the reservoir. The weekly maintenance says you should:

  • If autoclave is only used occasionally, drain water from mineral free water reservoir once a week and refill with fresh mineral-free water or distilled water. 
  • Weekly or if text alarm of “full waste water reservoir” appears (whichever comes first) drain water from the waste water reservoir. 
  • Clean the outer parts of the autoclave with a so cloth. 
  • Once Every 2 Weeks Perform “System Clean Process.”

Monthly

Monthly maintenance consists cleaning the autoclave outside and some of the inner parts as well. For monthly maintenance, you should:

  • Clean and descale the chamber. 
  • Clean the outer parts of the autoclave with a so cloth. 
  • Clean the drain filter of the autoclave. 
Periodic Maintenance

Maintenance that occurs every 3 to 6 months, or every certain number of cycles.

  • Every 3 Months: Check door gasket for physical damage and replace if there is damage or leakage. 
  • Every 6 Months or 1000 cycles: (Whichever comes first:) Replace the air filter. 
  • Every 6 Months or 1000 cycles: (Whichever comes first:) Replace the door gasket

Yearly

Every  year

  • Annual PM – Replace Door Gasket, Air Filter, and perform “System Clean Process” with TSC Cleaning Tablets.
