This is a thumbnail for an overview article on the SciCan Bravo G4 steam sterilizer.

What is the SciCan Bravo G4?

Instrument reprocessing is the heart of your daily operations in any practice. No matter if it’s medical, dental, veterinary, tattoo, piercing, anything, one thing is certain… You’ve got instruments that need to be properly sterilized. When it comes to the autoclave itself however, efficiency and reliability are non-negotiable in a practice with busier workflows. If you’ve got tasks that require your tools to be sterilized quickly for fast turnarounds, you need an autoclave that’s got the power and speed to keep up. Enter one of the popular modern autoclaves created by SciCan: their Bravo G4 steam sterilizer.

The SciCan Bravo G4 is not only a machine that can power through anything you give it; it’s also got speed to back it up. In this article, we’d like to take a look at the Bravo G4 in its entirety. We’ll go over the various features and benefits it offers so that you can get a better understanding of where it got its reputation.

What is the SciCan Bravo G4?This is a SciCan Bravo G4 17L Tabletop Autoclave

The Bravo G4 is one of SciCan’s autoclaves that uses their proprietary technology to bring this powerhouse to the modern age. The Bravo G4 comes in both 17 Liter and 22 Liter models, with each model coming in 120 Volt and 220 Volt offerings. But both models of the Bravo G4 stand on the countertop with dimensions of 23.62” x 18.90” x 17.95”. While their outer dimensions are the same, the internal variety allows you to better assess which version of the autoclave is right based on the needs of your practice. With a deeper understanding of exactly what you need, you can ensure you get the best bang for your buck.

But with the SciCan Bravo G4, you’ll get a plethora of features contained in this tabletop workhorse:

So let’s look more into what exactly each of these points consist of.

Class B Sterilization Cycles

With the SciCan Bravo G4, your instruments are processed using Class B Pre/Post Vacuum Cycles. Class B sterilization cycles utilize the full force of the pre/post vacuum technology. These cycles use a vacuum pump to remove ambient air from the chamber, and inject steam into it as replacement through pulses. This steam injection process allows the steam to deeply penetrate even the most intricate machinery and mechanisms. Materials like hollow, porous loads, wrapped items, high-density instruments and the like.

Class B sterilization has made a reputation for being an absolute force of nature against microorganisms and debris. However, some practices with smaller workflows or simpler tools may not need that much power. But if you need something that can do the hard work the right way… The Class B cycles of the SciCan Bravo G4 are what you need.

High Capacity and Fast Cycles

Another point to note with the Bravo G4 is its high capacity paired with its fast cycles. We mentioned before that the Bravo G4 comes in 17 Liter and 22 Liter models. Each one is able to hold a large amount of tools in its 10” sterilization chamber. The Bravo G4 17L can sterilize 3 full‐size cassettes or up to 20 pouches. The Bravo G4 22L can sterilize 3 oral surgery cassettes or up to 25 pouches. Combined with its sterilization capabilities and cycle speeds, the Bravo G4 creates larger turnarounds in record time.

The SciCan Bravo G4 also supports the sterilization of many different kinds of instrument types:

  • Solid Unwrapped
  • Solid Wrapped
  • Hollow Unwrapped
  • Hollow Wrapped
  • Rubber & Plastic

Both the 17 Liter and 22 Liter models run almost every cycle at 270°F, but maintaining a lower temperature for rubber and plastics at 250°F. The SciCan Bravo 17L has cycle times between 33 and 75 minutes for its 120V model, and 27 to 62 minutes for its 240V model. The SciCan Bravo 22L, on the other hand, has cycle times between 42 and 89 minutes for its 120V model. And 32 to 71 minutes for its 240V model, with the 22 Liter accommodating for larger loads. With both unit’s cycle times also include the drying time with its closed-door drying system.

G4 Technology

We’ve recently written a blog on SciCan’s proprietary G4 technology on our site, which you can read here. But G4 integrated autoclaves provide a number of different features for your practice that help boost efficiency. SciCan’s G4 interface connects directly to your smart devices and computers to remotely access information on your Bravo G4 whenever you need it. This in turn allows the staff to have access to features like:

  • Smart Device Integration: Connects directly to computers and smart devices for remote cycle and data tracking.
  • Instant Data Access: Puts complete cycle data and histories right at your fingertips.
  • Automated Notifications: Sends maintenance alerts and error messages directly to staff or technicians.
  • Digital Documentation: Streamlines reliable load release and seamless electronic record-keeping.
  • Physical Backup: The Bravo G4 includes an integrated USB port for easy physical data backup and recording.

Ease of Use and Versatility

One of the final points to touch on is the accessibility and ease of use offered by the Bravo G4. This autoclave was built with the user in mind, in more ways than one. Everything on the Bravo G4 is operated through an intuitive touchscreen. You can easily select cycles, manage device settings, and monitor real-time sterilization parameters with just a tap. Additionally, the display provides clear, instant access to cycle histories, system diagnostics, and operational prompts to minimize user error.

When you need to do any work with draining or filling your reservoir, the Bravo G4 features multiple filling and draining options. Supporting manual top and front filling, as well as automatic filling and draining through ports in the back. Additionally, the unit uses fresh water for every cycle, drastically minimizing the buildup of oils and debris inside the chamber.

A combination of systems that are designed to make the operation process simple from start to finish.

Final Thoughts

If your practice is bogged down by your busiest days, and you need something that can keep up, the Bravo G4 is here to help. When you balance heavy-duty Class B sterilization, rapid multi-model cycle times, and smart G4 connectivity… The SciCan Bravo G4 proves to be a true powerhouse for modern practices.
