1: Cassette Seal Installation

As the Statim autoclaves in this article are cassette autoclaves, that’s what this common problem will focus on. Sometimes people have trouble putting the cassette seal in properly. But thankfully there’s a simple way to tell how to do it right. But we’ll explain it here as well.

The cassette seal, when put in, has a couple of indicators as to which way it should go. For starters, take a look at the back of the cassette itself, the side opposite of the handle. There should be holes on it, that’s where the door seal sits. As the seal has holes that will match up to this, like in the example picture on the right. So when you put the cassette in, make sure those holes are lined up. And make sure the seal is sitting against the metal corners indicated by the “nubs” in the corners of the seal.

Once it’s in, you’ve properly installed your Statim Cassette Seal!

2: Improperly Inserting the Cassette

Another one of the top 3 Statim mistakes among Statim cassette autoclave owners is not inserting the cassette properly. This autoclave’s work space is theThis is an extended length cassette for the Scican Statim 5000 and G4 5000. separate cassette that you put in. It has its own set of advantages of course, but you have to be careful when inserting it. Autoclaves have pins and probes usually located in the backs of their back areas and chambers. So there’s a trick to inserting these cassettes.

You need to ensure the cassette is right side up, which after inserting your tools, should already be done. You’ll slide the cassette in and it’ll start smooth. But once it’s in far enough it’ll give resistance if pushed further. At this point, give it one more light push forward until you hear a click. That indicates that the cassette is fully and properly inserted. And no pins bent in the process.

3: Falling Behind on Quarterly Maintenance

This one is definitely important so pay attention. One of the most common mistakes we see is people falling behind on maintenance. Especially the quarterly maintenance. We know keeping track of all of these things can be hard, but we’re here to help. And we can tell you that there are indeed indicators that it’s time to replace certain parts.

But the first thing to look for is condensation building up around the cassette entrance. This means that your cassette seal is either not installed properly, or it’s time to replace it.

The other place to look is the biological filter. The square filter located on the back of the unit. If the inner workings of it are brown and dirty, it’s time to replace it. Or if it is warped and/or physically melted, it’s time to replace it. Some Statim autoclaves also have an air compressor filter, if this filter is also dirty, replacing time.
