Examples of Scican Autoclave Maintenance

Statim G4 5000 Daily Maintenance

The daily maintenance for the G4 5000 involves basically replacing the water and cleaning the unit and waste.

For the water reservoir:

  • Replace the water as needed
  • But for better efficiency, you can drain the reservoir at the end of the day, and leave it until the next work day to refill.

For the waste bottle:

  • Empty the waste bottle every time you refill the reservoir.

  • Fill with tap water up to MIN line marking. You may also add some chlorine-free disinfectant.

For the unit:

  • To ensure optimal performance of the STATIM autoclave, SciCan recommends that a full sterilization cycle, which must include the full Air Drying phase, be completed at the end of each day of use. This is especially important when the unit is left idle over the weekend or for any extended period of time.

Statim G4 5000 Weekly Maintenance

The weekly maintenance focuses on cleaning the internal parts and filters.

For the Cassette:

  • Wash the interior of the cassette with dishwashing soap or a mild detergent that does not contain chlorine.
  • Scrub the inside with a cleaning pad designed for use with Teflon™-coated surfaces.

For the Biological and/or Air Filter:

  • Check the filter for dirt and moisture. Replace if dirty. Call for service if wet.

For the Water Filter:

  • Check the water reservoir filter every week and clean if necessary. Replace only if necessary.
Statim G4 5000 6-month Periodical Maintenance

For the Cassette Seal:

  • Replace every 500 cycles or six months (whichever comes first), or whenever necessary.

For the Biological and/or air filter:

  • Replace every 500 cycles or six months (whichever comes first).
In the Case of an Extended Period of Non-Use

For the unit:

If the Statim G4 5000 is not going to be in use for a week (or more), ensure that a full sterilization cycle, which must include the full air drying phase, is completed before the period of non-use. After the period of non-use and before any instruments are sterilized, run three wrapped cycles. Remove the cassette once it has cooled. Clean the top (lid) and bottom (tray) sections using a soft cloth to wipe the inside surfaces and then rinse thoroughly with tap water.
