The primary goal for a manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPE) is to ensure the safety of both the patient and the healthcare provider. AAMI created a pretty simple rating system to grade how well fluids are blocked by protective clothing like isolation gowns. In doing this clinicians/staff are able to choose the proper level of protection for their task. The levels are from 1 – 4  cover all the way from basic patient care to full on splash zones. When these PPE rules are followed the HALYARD gowns help reduce the spreading of the infection causing germs.

These gowns are AAMI Level 2 which is: Minimal to Low Fluid Barrier Protection – Used when there’s only a slight risk of fluid exposure, for minimally invasive surgical procedures such as lumps and bumps.
