Core Function & System Role
- Filter Type: Deionization (DI). It acts as the third stage in a specialized four-filter reverse osmosis (RO) and deionization configuration.
- Function: It removes residual dissolved solids and minerals from the water, lowering the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level to 0–4 ppm to create distilled-quality, ultra-pure water.
- Equipment Protection: This ultra-pure water is critical for filling autoclaves and steam sterilizers (such as the SciCan STATIM and Bravo lines) to prevent mineral buildup and scale, which can damage the machines and compromise sterilization..
In the standard SciCan STATPURE system layout, the filter operates in sequence with three other stages:
- Filter #1: Prefilter (SWP01F)
- Filter #2: Hyperfiltration (SWP02F)
- Filter #3: Deionization (SWP03F)
- Filter #4: Polishing (SWP04F)
